ANTIQUE FOLK ART WOOD TWO STORY ARCHITECTURAL DOLL HOUSE / COTTAGE MODEL HAND MADE WOOD - GERMAN?Up for sale is this adorable little cottage. Doesn\'t it look like something right out of a German village? It\'s very cute and is white with blue trim. The trim is a scalloped eave like you\'d see in Solvang (a German tourist attraction) or a Bavarian village. Perhaps someone made this to remember their house in their homeland or maybe it made it\'s way over from there? The roof is red and is a gable roof with two dormers, one off each side. The front has a cute little porch for sitting out on lazy afternoons and watching the sunset. The porch railing is worn and loose here and there and (could use a little glue) but goes perfectly with the peeling paint on the underside of the eaves, the worn and chipping roof, and the loose railings around the balcony on the roof.
There\'s no way to get in this house, unless you climb through a window as the front door is shut closed. That\'s OK as some of the windows don\'t have glass (plastic - play along here) and the windows that do have plastic on them are curled or warped. This is a great little house with tons of character!! It measures 25\" deep x 19.5\" wide x 19\" high without the chimney is another 1.25\" high. It weighs 27 lbs. We\'re not sure of the age of this house as it has old rusty nails across the bottom and clearly shows it\'s age. But, then there\'s an occasionalPhilip\'shead screw here and there including at the chimney and on the underside at the porch. We think these were added later to strengthen it as most of the nails, including the nails in the siding are little round nails that have rusted. This may have been some child\'s school project or just something someone wanted to build, perhaps to demonstrate what the real house would look like?! Can\'t you just picture the father that made this little house for his daughter - fantastic details, too cute!!
It has worn spots, edge wear, scratches , nicks, warps and paint peeling off in some places (mostly the roof) and may need some slight repairs if you want to sturdy the railings up,as you\'d expect from an item of this age.
