Antique French Carved Oak Dresser Chest –Barley Twist -Renaissance –Lion Mask Gothic

~No doubt, one of the finest antique French dressers we’ve ever found, with all the features we look for in our antiques; rarity, quality, condition, it’s all here!~

~Superb quality and craftsman construction, I just don’t have enough adjectives to describe it…BUT…

~THE MOST UNIQUE FEATURE is the large “FAUX DRAWER” top of the base with the carved lion mask handle. It actually pulls out and you flip it over so that your washbowl and pitcher can sit inside! Normally these top drawers get lost over time, and you don’t know they even existed!~

~Below the reversible top drawer we have double drawers and double doors, all with exquisite hand carvings; double doors with carved raised center medallions; relief carvings throughout~
~Barley twist posts flank the huge upper mirror AND the lower cabinet; it’s the original matched upper and lower~

~Again, just meticulous, exquisitely hand carved details~

~Original dark finish perfect for any décor~

Condition:

The chest is in good condition for its age, withnormal signs of age and use, dings, scratches, and other imperfections that occur in wood over time.

Key is included, but old locks are finicky and not guaranteed.

Mirror and barley twist posts come off for transportation; the posts have pegs that fit into the base. I’d probably reinforce these when it gets to it’s final place in your home. Mirror is likely a replacement; upper high crown has been split and repaired.
