This is avery unusualantique garden push cultivator. This was designed to push with the momentum of a walk or stride,and stearedwith the wishbone handles.The metal has light surface rust,but is solid.The wooden handles are weathered,butthey are also solid.

The wood push bar would have had a pad on it,and the bar would be positioned at about chest height,and as you would walk the momentum would propell the cultivator.While your hands would steer and push on the bent grip handles.

This cultivator also pivots in and out of plants while push cultivating. Back in the day when corn was planted in hills (2-3 kernals or seeds per spot and about36"or more apartin a checkerboard pattern so that the corn could be cultivated in both dirrections) the cultivatorssteered with the handles would pivot or swing in and out of the row of corn therebygetting the weeds that grew between the corn plants.
