Antique Goodell Pratt No.494 Hobby Lathe w/ Slide Rest and Tailstock:
$375.00

Up for sale is a very early Goodell Pratt hobby lathe. I looked it over for a model number, which should be on the brass name plate but couldn\'t find one. After some research online, i\'ve figured out this is a No.494, the middle sized hobby lathe they offered.
The overall condition is good with what appears to be original paint that has been covered with some heavily scaled green so its a great candidate for a restoration. The ways have a nice surface to them with some small dings but nothing that will effect the use of the tool. The rust is surface rust and will clean off with a bit of work.
The lathe comes with the tailstock assembly, and the No.132 slide rest with a homemade tool clamp at the top.
It does have some missing parts but that does happen to a tool close to 100 years old.
This is what i know for sure isn\'t on the lathe:
2nd lockdown lever on tailstock. 1 is present but the second is missing.
1 finger knob on slide rest
Stepped gear assembly
Tool rest
There is no 3 jaw chuck on the lathe but these lathes could be adapted to run a table saw, scroll saw and a standard drill chuck so who knows what the previous owner of this tool was using it for. I do have an extra T-bolt clamp assembly, most likely for the tool rest but i couldn\'t find it when gathering the scattered parts of the lathe. The lathe measures 31\" overall and has a bed measurement of 24\" (18\" between centers) The legs are in good shape with no missing chunks from the screwholes and it tips the scales at about 40lbs
