This doll is from my daughters childhood. She\'s decided she wants to sell it. 50 cm (19.75) inches is quite tall for this type of doll, it looks like they term them puppet dolls. She is jointed
at the shoulders and hips. Her hard arms go to just above the elbow and her hard legs go to just above the knee. I can feel a large wire connection from the arms to the body. The bodyfeels hard from the tip of her head to her hips. She has a \"cry box\" in her tummy that still works. The Japanese call it \"singing\". The legs feel stuffed from the knee to the hip. The face,feet, hands, and fabric havea patina you can only get from age. Her general coloring is whiter than shown on most other dolls. I pulled back her kimono to show the Japanese writing onher paper skirt (see photos). Have no idea what it says. Ichimatsu dolls were used to decorate the celebration of the birth of girls to wish health and happiness.
Gofun is rice paste mixed with crushed oyster shell.
