ThisAntique Music Box dates from the latter 1880s to mid-1890s, and is Swiss madeby Mermod Freres. It plays 8 classical songs (see menu photos). The 8\"long pin cylinder shows little loss of finish. There are 56 teeth on the comband all teeth are in place. I see no repair of any teeth. When played, thetunes have rich deep tones, are in tune, and sound great. I believe all thepins are hitting the respective comb teeth as expected. The wind mechanism ofthe movement works as expected and the wind spring feels sound when keyed. Thetop, sides and bottom of the box are in excellent condition with an inlaidfigure on the top (two pieces of inlay are missing, see photo). I can detect nowarps, splits or repairs of the box. The stop and start selector mechanicalswitch works properly, as does the replay/change selector. This item is inexcellent condition, both visually and functionally. The serial number is 25044. The outside dimensions are 17\" x8.5\" x 5.25\". Additionalphotos and information are available if requested.
