Please scroll down under this description for additional views. Circa 1860 decorative cast iron andirons, 13 1/4\" high, 7\" wide, 17\" deep. The decorative faces depict putti or cherubs holding a basket of flowers on their heads. Clasically inspired, they are wearing just a cloth diagonally across one shoulder and barely covering their privates. They are not missing an arm, they were cast this way- the putti might be modeled after some ancient statue or fresco that also had that missing limb. Both are painted metallic gold and the cast iron underneath looks rather pitted. One of the putti broke in half and has a very old repair across the chest. The same andiron has a blacksmith\'s braze of iron repair on the back that permanently joins the fire log support with the figure. From a local estate, where I\'m sure they have been for generations.
