At first I thought this very cool antique item was some sort of lock or part of a combination safe, but on closer inspection, neither seemed a good guess. So I looked on-line and came up with: ANTIQUE CAST IRON MUELLER MILWAUKEE FURNACE OR STOVE DAMPER CHAIN OPERATED. If you enter that and do an "image" search, you will see one of these with a chain going around under the dial. Well whatever it is, it has a great look to it and it would make a nice addition to some sort of Steampunk art. Approx. 3" X 5.375". Some wear consistent with age/use.
