Theis an antique portable scale with 6 brass bowl weights each marked “4ounce”, “2 ounce”, “1 ounce”, “1/2 ounce”, “5 P”,and “2 P”. The scale rod is 6” long and each of the 2 bowls is2 1/2” in diameter. It is in a box carved from a single block ofoak measuring 7”x3 1/4”x1 3/4” with 2 hook and nail clasps, oneof which has a broken tip. The name “A. E. Fortner” is writtenin pencil on the inside of the lid and the initials “A. I.” arewritten in pencil on the bottom. There is a small hinged compartmentthat is empty. The brass weights have made a concentric cirlceimprint on the inside of the lid. The scale, box and weights are allin very good condition.
