Cast iron meat chopper and also a gear-driven sausage stuffer machine. This sale is for both items together.
My father found these two items together in great uncle George's barn back in the early 1980's, just before the barn was torn down in the Appleton, WI area where we had a large extended family. Clearly, they were used together and are offered together in this sale.
The meat chopper is a unique, heavy duty cast iron, hand cranked machine in very good condtion. The blades are still very sharp and I am sure this would would work properly today. Chopped meat is discharge out the bottom of the grinder case. The case flips open for easy cleaning or unclogging of the blades, as you can see in the photo. The top has cast-in manufactuer NO2This company was started as J RUGGLES & CO in 1835. By 1949, took on this longer name, and was finally absorbed into the Oliver Ames & Sons Co in 1861. So this grinder was apparently produced sometime between 1849 and 1861 - older than I thought!
The separate sausage stuffer machine is also hand cranked and in very good condition. The tube is still perfectly round and the piston travels the whole length of the tube without binding. The tube is easily removed from the drive base for easy cleaning. This stuffer machine is missing its original handle.
Sadly, I do not have room to keep all of these antiques that my father found in the relatives barn and hope to find good homes for them. See my other listings for a few more farm antiques that he found.
I will pack carefully and ship UPS. No international shipping. Thanks for looking!
