Description: 19th century Southeast Asia bronze Elephant Bell, originating from the Golden Triangle Region which encompasses Burma, Laos, and Thailand. The bell, traditionally archaic in style, was masterfully crafted by indigenous hilltribe village Blacksmith, cast in home-made lost wax crucibles, set in a ground hearth. xxxxx The Clonk bell or \'hka-lauk\' has its own distinctive characteristics, thickly cast in a circular shape, with a single looped handle, used for a rope to pass through at the top, decorated with a continuous scene of miniature elephants walking on a horizontal band. The ring tone echos a wonderfully sound, by the solid bronze clapper wired inside, providing a loud, and sonorous tone when in pendulous motion.xxxxx The bell is presented on a arched bamboo and wood base stand, hung in place with deerskin and teakwood sticks. Lost wax casted with a smooth naturally aged dark chocolate brown patina, with traces of gilding on the inside.
