Awesome antique travel writing desk with Bramah lock. This is most likely well over 100 years old, made from brass and burl wood. Incredible Bramah lock with key. Lock seems to be stuck, but I just didn\'t want to force it. Two of the brass corner finials are out, but one is inside the box and can be re-installed. Interior of the writing desk has brass locking mechanism to ensure the writing surface stays put and has interior compartments to store quill pens, ink and paper. Who knows what diplomat or wealthy person owned this box in 1850?? This is very, very nice and a very rare find. Given that it has an antique Bramah lock, this item most likely originated in England and was brought to the U.S. by a wealthy merchant, diplomat or statesman; perhaps something of historical note was written upon this box? Closed, the box is 18 inches long by 10 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches tall.
