Featured here is a rare, vintage UNION MACHINIST TOOL CHEST made by the Union Tool Chest Works Company of Rochester, New York. It is reported, that UNION made tool chests from 1920 to 1940 & set the standard for machinist chests even before Gerstner was in business!
All hardware is original & in great functional shape. Clip closures on left and right are marked with: Worcester Metal Goods Company & Eagle Look Company, Terryville, Connecticut, U.S.A.
On the whole, UNION FLIP TOP TOOL CHEST is wood covered by some sort of fabric. The 7 drawers are all intact, having mahogany fronts; the rest of the wood may be mixed. Drawers are still covered with the original billiard green felt. Felt fixed on 2 places with a thumbtack. It is apparent that utensils were stored in it.
Handle is strong & secure. As seen in the picture, the former owner patched handle by wrapping a leather band around. The front folds down and comes off the tool chest. It also has the original key. Some wear and scratches around the box but overall in very good condition.
Length: 17 inches (44 cm). Height: 13 inches (33 cm). Width: 8 inches (21 cm). Weight: 17 pounds.A great old quality tool chest to use or just add to your collection. It could also make a great treasure chest. Please refer to pictures to complete description.
