Up for offer is a 1926 Granada model Victor Victrola talking machine. The Granada was one of the first Orthophonic Victrola models introduced in late 1925.It was a flat-top console machine, with cabinet styling similar to the deluxe pre-Orthophonic VV-405, which had been discontinued earlier in the year. The Granada sold moderately well and remained in the Victor catalog until 1928, although factory production ceased at the end of 1926.The 4-4 was available only with a mahogany finish, and included an automatic brake and nickel plated hardware. In early 1926, a grille cloth was added to give it a more elegant appearance. Later in 1926, the horn design was changed from a simple (unfolded) exponential horn to a folded-horn design, giving the machine better bass response.
This lovely machine works very well and comes with an Orthophonic reproducer that has been fully restored within past year. It has been refinished, though not recently, and the finish is in very good condition. The original grille cloth is in great condition. The motor runs quietly and steadily. The speed adjuster works perfectly as does the automatic brake. Records can be stored in the cabinets to the left and right of the grille. The machine measures 34\" tall x 34\" wide x 21\" deep and is easy to move.
