Antique Victorian Walnut/ebonized/gilded/porcelain/ormolu Ren Revival game table:
$2700.00

Offered for sale is this wonderful circa 1870\'s Ren. Rev. envelope game table.Ebonized with gilding, ormolu (or brass or bronze) surrounding little porcelain roundels. Beautiful trumpet turned legs, curved 4 piece stretcher endingina nice urn finial withormolu beading around the finial, bands of walnut and black lacquer or ebony surrounding the ormolu and porcelain mounts, and a single drawer. The top is figured walnutand consists of triangular leaves that open to form a felt covered game table top when the entire top is rotated 45 degrees for the support of the leaves. Small little scooped out recesses on the corners of the opened tophold gambling chips, drinks, or whatever. I have seen other very similar pieces to this only larger and with superstructures but with the exact same markings and porcelain/ormolu. However, I believe them to be French because of their proven provenance. Not sure of the provenance of this piece but the guy I got it from gave some cock and bull story about its provenance, its construction and what kinds of wood for the construction: all incorrect. The table has its original brass and porcelain casters and is 24\" square closed, 34\" square opened and is 31\" tall.

This would be a wonderfully useful table to have either as a side table for a lamp or to use as a bridge or gaming table. A repair has been done to the stretcher, a few little pieces of the ebony bandingare missing and there are the usual scrapes, dings and scratches consistent with use and age. The last picture is the French piece froma NY city townhouse and it had written information about its French provenance.

A stunning piece for your collection that will certainly get a lot of attention in your home> The two Pottier & Stymus chairs in one of the pictures are NOT part of this sale.

Local pickup only unless you want to arrange for shipping. A good way to ship this kind of item is thru a commercial moving van line. Much cheaper than a trucking company and they blanket wrap the item to insure safe passage.
