The case: A Walter Durfee pattern #18 version 2(V2) case that was made in three variations(with fluted columns V1 or twisted columnsV2). The version two cases were produced from 1892-1910. These pattern 18 were the most popular style cases produced. This V2 case with barley twisted columns with brass capitals and bases on the hood, waist and bottom. The oak case with inset front and side panels, carved swan\'s neck pediments and double cut beveled glass panel. This case has the beautiful carved Acanthus leaf design, half circle fan carving at the top of the waist door, engraved brass hinges, brass rosettes on the swan\'s neck and brass finials. The door lock is missing. The Oak case has great patina and has a beautiful finish. It measures eight foot four inches to the top of the finial by 26 1/2 inches in width and 17 1/2 inches in depth. It is big and heavy! The case has red fabric on the back and carved claw feet. The movement a later 5 tube Herchede quarter chiming Westminster chime 5 tube movement with 1921 patent date has just been rebuilt.(cleaned, new bushing, pivots polished, oiled and regulated). It\'s a beauty, looks and sounds great! The Durfee clocks came with 9 tube/bell Elliot (English) movements. Somewhere along its life the movement was separated from the case and the Herchede installed. The Herchede movement with 1921 patent made in Cincinnati, Ohio. has polished tubes, weights and pendulum. This clock is excellent, top quality, impressive, with beautiful Westminster chime, chiming melodiously needs nothing and ready for a new home. This clock is located in New Orleans.
