Missing original pendulum andweightsThe Case is missing some surface veneer in places,But it should be completelyrestorable
Approx Case Size, 26\" x 15\" x 4.25\"
The movement itself, Appearsto be complete,Including what I believe to be the original Hands and Face
It has the original label which include directions on the inside,And it even has it\'s original label on the back
The reverse painted picture on the 8\" x 10\" glass. On the bottom part of the doorIs still pretty much intact, With only minor paint loss.Primarilyto the border area.
Missing one small pulleycover on the topIt still has both strings and hooks, for the 2 weights it uses on each side
WATERBURY CLOCK COMPANY HISTORY
ON MARCH 5, 1857 THE WATERBURY CLOCK COMPANY WAS FORMED AS A JOINT STOCK CORPORATION WITH $60,000 AUTHORIZED CAPITAL RAISED FROM THE SALE OF 2,400 SHARES OF STOCK AT $25 PER SHARE.THERE WERE ORIGINALLY 18 SHAREHOLDERS WITH AARON BENEDICT AND G. W. BURNHAM BEING THE LARGEST STOCKHOLDERS WITH 468 SHARES EACH.
THE EARLIEST DESCRIPTION OF THE WATERBURY CLOCK COMPANY WAS PUBLISHED IN 1860 BY CHAUNCEY JEROME, RELATING IN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY:THE BENEDICT AND BURNHAM COMPANY, NOW MAKING CLOCKS IN THE CITY OF WATERBURY, UNDER THE NAME OF THE WATERBURY CLOCK COMPANY, IS COMPOSED OF A LARGE NUMBER OF FIRST CITIZENS OF THAT PLACE.
THE EARLIEST PRICE LIST KNOWN FOR THE WATERBURY CLOCK COMPANY WAS ISSUED JANUARY 1, 1873.AT THAT TIME THEY OFFERED OG, OOG, AND COLUMN WEIGHT DRIVEN CLOCKS, WALL CLOCKS, DROP OCTAGON AND A WALL REGULATOR.SPRING DRIVEN MANTLE CLOCKS WERE OFFERED IN COTTAGE, SHARP GOTHIC, ROUND GOTHIC, OOG AND COLUMN STYLES.BY 1875 THE FIRM HAD OPENED SALES OFFICES IN CHICAGO AND SAN FRANCISCO.
THE WATERBURY CLOCK COMPANY NAME REMAINED UNTIL 1944 WHEN THE FIRM’S NAME WAS CHANGED TO UNITED STATES TIME CORPORATION.
