Description:
Late 18th, Early 19th Century Hand Wrought Iron Bar Shackles Circa 1770-1820
Used primarily to secure legs, feet would have been inserted into the loops with the iron bar passed through the securement and having the captor hammering on the loop tie to close the set. It\'s theorized that early persons also threaded chain through these rings to secure several persons together with a single lock.
Please take a moment to click each picture and you\'ll see you can bring up enlargements that showcase the early original blacksmith construction and form. Some slight pitting associative of age, overall a very good original relic.
