This classical 3 ½pound Artisan felling axe is in great condition and has been fitted to a new Agrade American hickory handle that has been sanded, oiled and waxed. The headis 3” 5’, has a clear maker’s mark and is very sharp. Artisan is a qualityvintage axe brand, made in the USA.
The head width (pollto edge) is 7 ¼\" (183 mm) and is 4 ½” (113 mm) across the bit. Overall lengthis 29 ½” (75 cm).
I have loaded a lotof photos from different angles and these are an important part of thedescription.
I have a great enthusiasm for vintage axes. I enjoyrestoring them and getting them either back into use, or to the good homes ofcollectors. When restoring, I aim to do as much is necessary but as little aspossible - less is more, as they say. Aside from the beautiful old steel inthese axes, I appreciate their character. I believe that the work they havedone, the owners they have had and even their origins in the traditional steelcapitals of the world are born out by the scars. All axes I prepare, no matterhow collectable could be put to work. That means they are well balanced, wellfitted and have a very sharp edge.
