As strange as it may sound, the hardest part about adding this product to our catalog was giving it a name! That's because this impressive talking clock does so much that any title under ten words in length just doesn't seem to do it justice. But in the end, we settled on simply Talking Calendar Clock... But rest assured, its functionality goes far beyond acting as a talking alarm clock that also speaks the date.
First of all, this is an atomic digital talking clock. In a nutshell, that means that you don't have to worry about setting the time or date, keeping time set properly, or manually adjusting the clock forward or backward for Daylight Saving Time. The clock is radio-controlled, meaning it regularly monitors for the RF signal from the U.S. Atomic Clock in Colorado - and automatically keeps your clock set to the precise second of the American Military's clock!
From the very second you feel the sheer weight of the box and take out your brand-new clock, you'll quickly get the idea this one's a cut above any other model we offer. The clock alone weighs over a pound, and has a substantial, well-built feel and look to it. It stands a full five inches high, and has a three-inch-long Talk bar on the top. Tap this button once to hear the time; touch it twice in quick succession and you'll hear today's date (complete with weekday) spoken aloud.
Next, we should point out that absolutely every aspect of this clock speaks, from announcing the time and date, to setting the alarm and determining whether it's on or off, toggling the Hourly Report feature on or off, and even setting the day, date, year, time zone, and time. The significants of this fact for totally blind folks is huge: you can operate this calendar clock completely on your own - with no assistance from a sighted person whatsoever.
But if you do have some vision, don't be scared off! This clock also has an enormous LCD screen, making it the ideal choice for the visually impaired, or anybody who has trouble seeing the display in the middle of the night in pitch-black darkness. The numbers showing the time are an inch high, and the text giving today's date is half an inch tall.
Our talking atomic clock has several other noteworthy features. Its voice is of a true human quality, being that of a pleasant British female. For time announcement, the lady doesn't just say something like: "It's 12:30 PM."; oh no, she would instead announce: "The time is now half-past twelve PM." - taking the monotony out of getting the time. And when speaking the date, for example, you might hear: "Today's Wednesday, July fifteenth.". The alarm will go continuously for an extra-long five minutes, and even has a five-minute Snooze feature. An optional Hourly Report feature will automatically speak the time every hour on the hour, from 8 AM until 10 PM. A volume switch on the rear of the unit also has a High and a Low setting, perfect for waking up sound sleepers or to avoid disturbing anyone who's resting peacefully.
Phrases like "bigger", "better", and "the best" are commonly used to describe this one-of-a-kind timepiece. And once you have yours, you'll know why! (Uses two AA batteries, not included.)
Okay, if you've ever looked at any of our other listings, you know what's coming now! But it never hurts to go over these details again, now, does it? This clock is 100% brand-new, and comes to you in all the original packaging, including the product box. And instructions in both print and Braille are included, just to make sure you figure out all the cool functions offered by this feature-rich timepiece as quickly as possible!
