Description I just purchased this vintage C. R. Auman Pottery vase from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The vase is characteristic of the hand thrown forms produced at the Seagrove, NC pottery during the latter 1920\'s (1928 - 1934). The handsome ovoid vase shows clean line and consistent thin wall diameter with subtle finger tracings on the surfaces (Floyd Hilton). The grey stoneware was salt glazed by C. B. Masten in a deep cobalt with \"orange peel\" texture, heaviest at the shoulder with some interesting short drips. The piece has a nice presence measuring 8 ¼\" high, 4\" wide at the shoulder and 2 7/8\" across the top rim (O.D.). The base is hand incised with Masten\'s production code \"1-33\". The pieces is in pristine condition with no damage, glaze wear / loss or crazing (the interior is super clean, it appears unused). This handsome C. B. Masten vase would make a fine addition to any collection of vintage Auman / North Carolina pottery or Arts & Crafts / Mission Bungalow inspired décor.
