A Bacon and Day Special Silverbell \"Ne Plus Ultra\" plectrum banjo in near mint condition. Instrument made by Gretsch after they bought the Bacon Company.
Mandolin Brothers of NewYork estimates the banjo was built around 1940. Mandolin Brothers assessed the value of the instrument in 2000 to be $3000 in an Insurance Appraisal and Certificate of Authenticity which I will provide a copy of with the instrument.
Features a hand-carved lion\'s head on heel of neck. Pearl inlaid head-piece engraved and inlaid with flashing rhinestones. Bacon soft pedal mute with knee lever volume control. Choice ebony fingerboard with engraved pearl position markers. Metal parts heavily plated in 24-karet gold. Hard shell case. Continental U.S. only. Thanks.
