This fine little harp is a perfect example of Witcher craftsmanship.

I don\'t know the woods that were used, but this was made after Witcher moved his workshop from Sonoma County to New England because of the excellent materials to be found there.

Back in the 70s Mr. Witcher and I began a rather ambitious harp project that involved a modified shape and my doing intricate carving and burning; easier to conceive than to execute! Well, time wore on while I chipped away at it on and off... Come the 80s, and the Ambitious Harp was still in pieces being \'enhanced\'. So finally in 1984 I called Jay up and he said he\'d put together a nice interim harp so I\'d have something to play until the Ambitious should be completed.

Once it was built, he liked \"O\'Banahan\'s Harp\" so well that he showed it around a good deal before sending it. \"Hello? Has it shipped yet?\" It was much admired, but finally allowed to leave the nest and at last came to California and made music! Not enough, though, since my fortunes were such that it spent years of its life dozing in a pawnshop\'s storage-- so it looks very gently used, poor thing, with a minor edge ding or light scratch here and there. And now I need to let it go, but I can console myself with the assurance that no one buys a Witcher harp who won\'t give it a good home and thoroughly appreciate its mellow tone and classic form.

Included is the leather bag shown, containing ample string supply and tuning key, plus the information sheet that originally accompanied it 31 years ago (also shown). The serial number is 855 (see last image for inset of signature and number).

Length is 28 1/2 inches, widest part 13 inches, and harmonic curve 16 inches. Just the harp weighs 9 1/2 pounds, the bag w/ contents nearly another pound and a half.

Needless to say it will be packed with the greatest of care. Local pickup very gladly accommodated; will also deliver within the Greater Bay Area if a bit of gas and bridge expense is provided.
