BIG 8.5 inch STONE MORTAR & PESTLE 500-5000+yrs ALEUT Artifact KODIAK ISLD Inuit:
$43.82

DON\'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE AN OFFER!!! What we have here is a Gorgeous Ancient 500-5000+ years old Native Aleut Artifact in the form of a Big Beautifully Crafted Stone PESTLE & MORTAR GRINDER... large size measures 8 1/2 inches long by 4 5/8 inches wide by 3 inches tall and weighing a substantial 5 pounds. Collected on Kodiak Island Alaska between 1965-1975 by the bush pilot Jim Klement who flew the Grummon Goose amphibious airplane that brought in supplies and was the lifeline between the people of Kodiak Island and the rest of the world. This piece is from a large collection of artifacts given as thank you gifts from the Aleut Native people to the pilot over the years he spent flying in/out supplies as well as transporting sick and injured locals. I have spoken personally with the pilot and he emphasized that at that time the Aleut of Kodiak Island were a very reserved private people who typically did not want much to do with outsiders, and it was only because he was their pilot that he became a respected friend to them. The pilot has told me that all of these items gifted to him were collected by the Aleut themselves from their own land and that these ancient Aleut pieces are very rare because the native people rarely traded or gave their artifacts to outsiders, their friend the pilot being one of the uncommon exceptions. Just look at this wonderful hand carved tool from an ancient culture, nice shape and colour. Used old condition... all my Aleut artifacts may or may not have wear, weathering soiling/staining, chips, scratches, cracks, rubs, losses and other imperfections etc as expected and common to old traditional pieces... see photos for over all condition. I do not know the exact age as ages vary, likely 500-5000 yrs or older... please look at photos and you determine to your best judgment the age, condition, what this is, and what this is worth. I am happy to offer you the opportunity to touch and hold history. Enjoy for a lifetime or resell for a profit! This is a nice piece, don\'t let it get away... offer early because someone else wants this!
