BIRMINGHAM STERLING SILVER ART DECO PERPETUAL CALENDAR by W.J. Myatt & Co c1938:
$100.00

I am pleased to be offering for sale this sterling silver & wood perpetual calendar. As you can see, this calendar is done in the Art Deco style, and bears hallmarks on the edge which denote that it was made in Birmingham England by W.J. Myatt & Co. The date code is O, which I believe indicates that it was made in 1938. There are knobs on the back which turn gear to rotate the paper perpetual calendar. The paper calendar itself has been damaged over the years, but the knobs/gears seem to work. The wooden base measures approximately 6 3/4\" across the bottom, while the overall height of this calendar is approximately 4 1/2.\" As you can see, this piece is tarnished and does have a number of areas where the textured silver, is bumpy (it appears to have been pushed out from the underside (see for example the photo of the upper left hand corner)). Additionally, a few of the pins that secure the silver front piece to the wooden base are missing. Finally, there is some wear to the (ebonized) finish of the wooden base. If you are looking for a handsome vintage Art Deco style perpetual calendar -- or perhaps to repurpose this one as a photo frame -- look no further.
