Up for sale today is a medium flat rate box (a little over 25 lbs) filled with some of my best gold bearing paydirt from the Black Hills in South Dakota. 


This paydirt is from and ancient creek where the gold used to flow about 80 feet up in elevation from Castle Creek. This material has some thick grey clay that rests on and in between the bedrock. I have scraped off the gold bearing clay from the larger cobble as that tends to be where the best gold is. The gold bearing clay (for this 9/22 to 9/29 sale, about 7lbs) is put into the box with the rest of the paydirt and gravel. Quite often, this Castle Creek material has some quartz cobble and some slate with visible gold showing. Flakes are the norm with this material with some smaller fines and flour gold or as some might call it, fly poop. Pickers are a lot more common than the nuggets, but nuggets (for me anything over 1/4 gram) are to be found. Most gold found in this material is that deep yellow that the Black Hills are known for but, some I have seen have a unique orangish tint that is derived from iron. Please remember to thoroughly wash off any cobble as this is where some of the gold tends to be locked up.
