Up for sale is a T5 transmission for your 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird with a V8 engine.
I pulled this from a 1984 Firebird with a monster 383 Chevy Stroker in front of it. I bought the car for just the motor and transmission and tossed the rest. Afterwards I decided to stick with an original M20 for my 64 Bel Air so I don't need the T5. I just dyno'd the exact same motor and it pulled 267hp/335 lbs of torque at the wheels. When you consider 15%parasiticloss, thisenginepumps 315hp/395 lbs of torque at the crank.
In other words...This transmission held up to a 315hp/395lb torque motor. I easily smoked the tires inthefirst three gears when test driving the Firebird car using this transmission. Once again, I'm not using it because I want a period specific transmission in my 64 and I didn't want to convert to bucket seats.

This transmission is very, very strong. When I drained the transmission there were no metal filings or other signs of damage. The transmission shifted easily and seemed to be working fine before I removed it.The input and output shafts spin freely. Although the transmission looks oily, this isstrictlyfrom the motor leaking oil onto it. I will clean it up even more prior to shipping. The transmission doesn't look like it was leaking at all. This transmission will work with either hydraulic or mechanical clutch linkage.
Included but not pictured is the crossmemberto mount to the frame. I also have the bell housing if you are interested in it or a negotiated price.
