We have a large number of vintage and antique clocks currentlylisted along with an equally impressive collection of music boxes and othervery nice antique and vintage collectibles. Be sure to have a look atourother items!

This is an absolutely breathtaking, deeply carved, high quality, working, antique cuckoo clock that was produced in \"Switzerland\" about 145 years ago; really! I have never seen another like it and were it not for the cause listed below, it would remain in our home. The clock probably belongs in a museum but here it is. According to the embossed brass movement, the clock bears the words, \"Dragon\" and \"Le Loele\" as well as the \"Swiss\" name. There is an intact service label on the very back that indicates it was once serviced or sold long ago by the \"Schreiber Clock Service\" in Milwaukee Wisconsin which is still there today. I have not seen carvings like this in ages and it\'s been a long time since I have seen a Swiss clock. Switzerland used to be known as the home of the cuckoo clock but since around 1950, it\'s mostly known for its banks. I only know of one Swiss manufacturer still producing clocks but this one was created long before he ever opened his factory. I don\'t know anything about Dragon or Le Loele but that\'s not unusual since most clock makers never did get a great deal of worldwide distribution though in this case, I have no idea why; gorgeous on display! The clock is made entirely ofcured and aged Linden wood which is the choice of fine carvers in northern Switzerland since 1860 or so. The trees only grow at certain altitudes and mostly in the Black Forest of Southern Germany and north Switzerland. The clock is deeply carved, quite intricate, and wavy. It is adorned with four, large wood grape leaves and another carved leaf is found onthe wooden pendulum. The finish is deep walnut and the wooden dialhas a darker woodtone backdrop featuring raised soft almond Roman numerals to mark the hours and matching fancy handsto point out the time. There are wooden access doors on either side of the case that have a wooden pull on each. They remove to allow access to the front of the movement in case any adjustments need to be made from that angle. There is awooden back on the case that is secured with two metal latches. The backremoves easily to allow access to the weight driven, mechanical, rack style movement bearing the words, Dragon, Le Loele, and Swiss. Aweight driven movement simply means that the chains need to be pulledoccasionally to wind the clock and cuckoo activities. The wooden bellow tubes are intact and the tops look and sound good too! At the bottom of each hour, the small wooden door above the dialopens and a colorful bird stands in the doorway. He gives off a singledeep cuckoo sound in tandem with a nice sounding coiled chime inside the casebefore retreating back inside the clock, closing the door behind him. Thecuckoo bird comes out again at the top of each hour and correctlycuckoos/chimes the current number of hours before going back inside theclock; fascinating! This clock has another great feature you don\'t find on any of the newer clocks. There is a braided cord that comes from the movement through the case and dangles down next to the chains. It has a fancy brass end on it and when pulled, the cuckoo activities advance half an hour each time the cord is pulled...great feature for calibrating the current time and cuckoo sounds/activities. The clock works well here, keeps good time, and cuckoos likeit should though it is an old clock and we don\'t know the service history. I did find a service date on the back door and another written on the inside of the back door: 6-25-99. Nonetheless, someadjustments or service may be necessary once the clock makes the journey to its newhome. We always advise our clock customers to service their antiqueor vintage clocks at least once every three years. Doing so will preserve a rare clock like this one and keep it running strong for years to come. I\'velooked the clock over fairly well and it is intact though I found a number of nicely-done repairs on the trim that undoubtedly occurred over the years...nothing detracting. I doubt if anything could. It is a very impressiveclock, and the ideal size for use anywhere measuring about 13\" or so high (not counting theweights or pendulum), about 6 1/2\" at its deepest point, and about 10 1/2\" across the top. The clock comescomplete as shown with two sets of attached metal chains, a wooden carved leafpendulum, and two heavy pinecone shaped metal weights. This clockis unique, very special, and will be the focal point in any collection. It is certain to capture the imagination of anyone seeing it in your home, office, or wherever it is that you care to showcase a rare Swiss timepiece. offer with confidence; I have no doubt that you will love this clock and you won\'t find another like it!
