Breyer WOODGRAIN Mustang, "Diablo" RARE ! 1963 - 1966For your consideration, Breyer (Traditional) # 985 WOODGRAIN Mustang, "Diablo" RARE! Produced: 1963 - 1966 Semiglossy, Woodgrain , Socks. A RARE and highly sought after model!
Awwwe yes, the WOODGRAINS...each one so different...no two exactly alike...though some may appear similar, each is unique, in its own right!
Let's see...where shall I start...well, perhaps with the obvious...this guy is absolutely gorgeous! Yes, I admit, I am quite partial to this specific mold...and I do love the Woodgrains...so of course I am somewhat biased...but in truth...this model is absolutely beautiful. Now, take into consideration his age...I, myself can hardly believe he is almost 50 years old! I'm just a few years older than this model...and let me tell you what...I'd be quite happy if all that was wrong with me was a few small rubs on the tips of my ears and a little split around my rump area!!! LOL!
Seriously though, this model is so very, very nice! Between his first owner and myself, he has spent his entire life in an enclosed display cabinet...he has NEVER been exposed to any elements...and very rarely ever handled. In preparation for this listing, I went over him with a fine tooth comb, so to say...bright lights, glasses and yes...I even broke out the "magnifying glass"! LOL! The following is what I was able to find..the very tip of his right ear has a small rub...the very tip of his left ear has a very tiny little rub...near the edge of his left ear there is a pin point dot/rub...there is a minuscule, dot like rub just above his left eye. Just above his right eye is rubbing as is on the edge of his left nostril. Slight rubbing on a very tiny spot on the edge of his right nostril. His muzzle near the right nostril does have a rub, as does the edge on the right side of his lower lip. On the right side of his face above the muzzle area, there is a couple of areas where the graining color is lighter...but I do not believe it to be any type of rubbing. The light colored graining , can at times be quite deceptive. A perfect example of this...the left side of his mane, about 2/3 the way up towards his pole is an area about the size of a ballpoint pen...I truly don't think it is a rub...it looks like that lighter graining color...this can be frustrating to say the least, when you're trying to give a clear and honest evaluation. His right front lower leg...there is a small scratch in his white sock. The edges of his hooves have are really clean...little rubbing, with the left rear hoof being the worst, His socks are nice and white with slight over spray from hoofs as is common with the woodgrains. If you hold him just right in bright light, you can see a dot (ballpoint pen size) on the left side of his back, near his hip. I would assume it from factory. The seam on his back isn't perfect...again, held at just the correct angle in bright light, you can see a slight line where the artist could have sanded it down just a bit more, making his backside flush. The woodgrain makes it difficult to find though. The very tip of his tail does have a rub where the tail rests on flat surface to support the model when in the semi rearing stance...and lastly, he does have that all too common with this specific model, small separation slightly above tail base, ending at base lines. Had a hard time trying to get it to show in photos. But if you look carefully you can see sort of like a line just above his tail. What you see in the pics, is just as he was when I bought him so many years ago!
Please understand I have been excruciatingly critical, pointing out every little blemish I could possibly find using my near Halogen headlamps...glasses...and my grandmothers old magnifying light/lamp! LOL! But I wanted to leave no stone unturned...I wanted to be crystal clear about his condition...I know I have made him sound awful...trust me on this...he really is gorgeous...you will NOT be disappointed!
I have been on e-Bay for quite a few years now...I take great pride in my reputation as both Buyer and Seller. Honesty, integrity, good work ethics and a little bit of that old schooling from the Grandparents...those are the key ingredients to me! Please rest assured, if ever, anyone is unhappy with any aspect, of any transaction...PLEASE...bring it to my attention...and I WILL correct whatever the issue, to your satisfaction!PLEASE NOTE: I will be listing several other items today (Monday 03-21). EVERYTHING that I list today will ONLY run for 3 days! Normally I run my listings for 7 days...however, I'm in the final stretch of moving/relocating out of state...meaning...the transport company will be at my home this Sunday (03-27) to load/move EVERYTHING! And as is all too common with most moves/relocations...this out of state move for me has been chalked just full of surprises! LOL! I recently had a few unforeseen and rather costly expenses...so I am doing a quick downsizing of some of my Breyers...the listings, like this one, will start today and RUN FOR ONLY 3 DAYS! Generally I am pretty easy going with payment time frames...but with the move this Sunday, that means I HAVE to make sure all items from my listings are shipped to the respective winning buyer(s) no later than this Saturday (03-26)! That in itself is no problem...I just need to make sure everyone understands...if you want me to ship your item before I move, then you'll need to process your PayPal payment...at the latest by Friday evening (03-25); otherwise I won't be able to ship your item until after I've moved...which would be at least a week possibly even two! I apologize for any inconvenience. I just really want to ensure everyone is taken care of before I move...much, much better than afterwards.
Any questions, please drop me a note via the e-Bay e-mail system...I'll get back with you just as quickly as is humanly possible.
Thank you so much for understanding!
And PLEASE...check back in a few hours or so to see which of my Breyers...and/or comic books...or ???? I will be putting up on the sale block for a QUICK SALE! ; )
