The SYSTEM has two main stages. First you take 14 basic measurements of the person you are designing for. Referring to FOUNDATION BOOKLET(S) you take the various FOUNDATION BLOCKS (bodice, dress front etc) and draft them to size using the BLOCK shape, the MEASUREMENTS and the curves, size marks etc from the TEMPLATE This is all detailed in the instuctions in the foundation books(s). You have now created the blocks of the individual FOUNDATION or TOILE. Now you refer to the various booklets and choose the design you want to create. You now create the FOUNDATION BLOCKS for the individual pattern using the instructions in the booklet you have chosenand the TEMPLATE. At this stage you are ready to pin and cut your fabric out!
As you know, I have included 24 pictures from the Sampler booklets in this listings but you can alsovisit pinkemilygraceon Webshots.com to view more pages from the sampler. I think there are seven picture files to look at!!
As well as fantasticbecause you can make up the garments in your size, the sketches andcolour printscould be invaluable for any vintage fashion study. The booklets have16 to 34 pages with sketches of the designs and charts of the patterns. There are round about 24 designs in each, but this varies. Most of the patterns are for women, but there are a few basic men’s ones in the early booklets- shirts, pyjamas etc. Women’s designs range in from teenage sports wear etc through lovely lingerie, separates, suits, coats, day dresses, cocktail dresses and evening /wedding gowns. The range of age & size these were designed for goes from teenagers to younger women and to mature women in larger sizes – for ‘matrons! There arepatterns for babies and children in some earlier books, plus a range of children's pattern books in the1950's.
The scansare jpeg files st 300dpi- high quality.
Between £30 and £80 has been paid on for the individual bookletsso getting this collection for this price is a REALLY good way of obtaining this material. You need Microsoft Office or Open Office (download free) to open the text files on the disc.
The full scan collection is my copyright. & should not be resold in that format (as a collection). The material in the collection is in the public domaine and can otherwisebe used as you see fit. PLEASE SEND ME PHOTOS of garment you make up for a picture gallery!
