COMET RARE BOXED TRAIN SET AMERICAN FLYER c1937 #843:
$345

Very hard to find toy train set from about 1937 in original uncatalogued set box with the number 843 on label. Overall set really looks great for age and use. There are some scratches and rubs but all original light blue and gray paint stands tall. This is an unusual stunning streamliner set set with a power unit on front and a dummy unit on rear, both lighted. The lights in both units do work but unfortunately I am out of the 18w screw in bulb that goes into sockets, the one bulb seen in pictures is burned out so you will need to get a couple of new bulbs. Motor runs well in both directions but it does need a good cleaning and lubrication. The set box is complete but two corners have separations and there is a tear half way across and above the label (a little glue would really set it right). The box bottom is complete, no problems. Two sleeves are included into which the two coaches fit nicely and really appear to be original to the set. I do not know why there are different numbers on each box since the coaches look to be identical (numbered 584 and 555). I do not have sleeves or boxes for the power and dummy units. Also included is instruction sheet for "Burlington Zephyr" type streamline train (the pictured train looks like the Comet). This instruction sheet also looks to be for electric whistle trains and the Hiawatha type also. This engine does not have whistle. This sheet is torn in half but is readable. Check or paypal OK.
