Okame wall hanging measures approx. 8 3/4\" x 6 3/4\" and appears to be carved from one piece of wood - type of wood unknown ; written on the back : \"Okame Japanese Goddess of Mirth from Noh Theater Mask Smithsonian carving started in \'89 or \'90 VAS 1993\" ; there is a carved notch on the back for hanging on a wall ; this is believed to be a relief design of the Okame face on front and the back is flat - not a mask - it\'s a wall hanging - copied from a Noh mask that is apparently hanging in the Smithsonian ; a few spots that just might be part of the design; a great OOAK hand carved wall hanging plaque for the collector of nice Japanese art
