Cereusperuvianus ‘Spiralis’
Thisoffer is for:a 24\"-30\" tipcutting similar to the last picture of the cutting.
Some cuttings may have some scaring which will
notaffect the growth of the plant. Each branch
spirals to varying degrees. Some twist more than others.
The cutting will be callused before shipping.
Thestems or trunks have a gray-green coloring along with 6 to 8 ribs, which, on this rarevariety, grow in a spiral. When the flowersopen, at night, they are typically 6-8 inches across, white andfragrant. This plant can handle low light levels but thrives in bright lightand would bloom and fruit best if outdoors and in full sun.
TheCereus peruvianus is a very upright plant and is used mainly as afloorplant on the interior.Combining them with interesting pottery or containers and smallerplants can create a very interestingeffectand look.
Itis thought, by many, that since the plant is a cactus or in thecactus family it shouldbe watered sparingly ornot at all. Actually it needs a good draining soil and to be wateredwell. Once established, outside, it needsno care exceptto be trimmed and fertilized occasionally.
Donot allow the Cereus to sit in water. If your plant is being over watered it may have yellowing stems orblades, mushy stems, root rot or a bad odor.
Themost commonpest is scaleoran occasional mealybug. In these rare occasions I use neem oil.
