Listing is for an antique unmarked import M1840 cavalry saber. The sword does not have a makers mark that we were able to find. The saber is in very nice shape overall. The blade is in good condition with very light signs of oxidation. There is a small chip on the edge of the blade, which is indicated in the pictures. The twisted brass wire is all intact, and the leather grip is only very slightly worn. The brass guard is in excellent condition with even patina. The handle is tight and solid. The scabbard has some oxidation and its throat is not present. We are unsure of this scabbard is the proper scabbard for this sword. It was found with the sword, but not on the sword. It does have a pronounced soldered seam. The blade is approximately 36" long, and the saber is 41½" overall. The scabbard is 36¾" long. This saber is being offered as is, as found, straight from an estate collection. Please look at all the pictures, and if you need more information, please ask.
