Civil War Fife, 16 3/4\" overall length with 7/8\" long german silver finial tips 3 punch staked, finish very heavily worn from use, with a crack in the wood body at bottom rear which was glued and then reinforced with multiple twists of cotton thread - one of the very few \"field repairs\" to a fife I have seen in 40 years of collecting. Very heavy fingering wear on the fingering holes of this fife. This is one of those \"if this could talk\" items in military collecting. Most importantly the construction of the finial tips are uniquely the Civil War manufacturing techniques.
