Columbian Hardware blacksmith anvil. 100+ pounds antique beauty:
$960.00

Rare vintage / antique Columbian Hardware Co. Blacksmith anvil. These anvils were made from 1905 - 1925 and had some affiliation with Soderfors Swedish anvils, I believe later date production was taken over by Soderfors. This anvil is in rather amazing condition, face has SHARP edges with zero chips, is flat w/ minimal wear. There is no sign of welding repair. The cutting table and horn show some moderate wear but still nice, especially as I found this outside in a Maine field, who knows how long it sat exposed. A true tribute to the quality of these scarce anvils. Rebound is fantastic, literally everywhere on the anvil, even the sides as it it entirely cast tool steel. Weight is about 105lbs , 23 1/4\" length, 15 x 3.5\" face, 9 3/4\". I believe this to be a early type but even having owned 10+ of these they all look different and I don\'t know how to date them. Shipping this is difficult due to health, I may ship depending on circumstance and the help I can get but it would probably cost at least estimated $150 to crate and deliver. Pickup is free and greatly preferred !8/23 - I want to add a note as this has got more attention than I expected. The horn was down in the ground which explains why this area shows the worst condition. I have based on questions and advice looked very closely at this, there is indeed no sign of any weld repair. I will say this was possibly entirely recast by Columbian Hardware as there is some extra material under the footprint and a slight circular mark running from the face to the bottom of the base. This would also make sense with my gut feeling that this is an early example. I gave up awhile ago guessing on these, info is scarce and as stated every one I came across was different in some way from different marking, overhanging / flush to body face etc. I\'ve used this lightly over the years, and the rebound is universally excellent on the entirety of all working surfaces, no cracks or faults anywhere. Thanks and please ask any and all questions.
