Conn 81A Cornet Gold Plated 1920s Exceptional Condition w/ Case, mthpc. & Lyre :
$599.00

Conn 81A gold plated cornet!Exceptional condition! A couple small dents on the second valve slide, and possibly some other minor imperfections. But great lacquer and great compression! Plays beautifully with a great tone! This is not some stuffy-playing collector\'s item; while it\'s great for a collector, it is a wonderful player!According to the Conn Loyalist website this is a large 2 1/2 bore which makes for a very mellow tone.I couldn\'t find the complete serial number...I asked Christine Derksen of the Conn Loyalist website to comment on whether it was gold plated and about the serial number, which I couldn\'t make out completely, but looks like it ends in 4556, but 4556 itself would be strange (the SN is not on the outer casing of the valve, but rather, under the felts). She said the following:

Yes, by the looks of your pictures it is gold plated. As for the serial, that is strange. I would suspect the serial would be something like 2x4556 where x is 0 and 6 (1920\'s).

Regards, Christine The slides in the horn are LP which means low pitch (I\'ve played it fine with other instruments in church). There is a * on the second valve casing which may indicate it was custom made. The engraving on it is magnificent and proceeds from the bell all the way to the crook!
Comes with case and Vincent Bach 7C vintage mouthpiece; the case is worn but the latches work, and the mouthpiece is not in very good shape but playable. Also includes lyre.Payment by paypal only. Shipping is a flat 19.99 by FedEx to the 48 contiguous. Overseas shipping is possible but only if the buyer is part of \'s global shipping program, where I would ship it to their shipping location in Kentucky, and you would pay additional overseas shipping fees.
