Up for sale is a wonderful CORONA #4 PORTABLE TYPEWRITER in a dark maroon color, one of the DUCO colors of 1924. It may be MOUNTAIN ASH SCARLET, but I can’t be sure as I can’t find an example online.
The typewriter doesn’t quite work, but has great potential—it needs someone with more skill than I have. I cleaned it with air compressor, toothbrush w/alcohol and/or typewriter oil. The main problem is the keys don’t hit the roller at all. And the T key isn’t working correct. I am reluctant to take it apart further than this.
The action of the roller and other tabs seem to work properly. There is wear appropriate with the age near the keyboard and chips elsewhere. I can’t find any numbers, but there are clear, bright decals. And the bell rings loud and clear.
The case is in very nice condition, but needs its corners attached/glued properly in 2 locations. Again, you’re the enthusiast and know best. I’d polish it, but you may like the authentic look.
