Custom Made Fretless Mountain Banjo:
$275.00

Custom-made fretless mountain banjo in your choice of hard wood (walnut, cherry, maple, chestnut, or combination).Based on Hicks/Glenn mountain banjos of Watauga County, North Carolina, where I grew up (The last photo in the gallery is of me showing one of my banjos to Clifford Glenn of Sugar Grove, NC. He is one of the builders that my design is based on. Due to health issues, Clifford does not build or play anymore).Everything is hand-made by me (neck, rig pots, tail piece, nut, bridge, friction tuners (I can put on geared tuners at an extra charge). Calf skin head. Strung your choice of light steel strings or Nylgut strings. I can also make them at different scale lengths (see banjo uke with inlayed maple in the neck in the photos. I have also built A-scale lengths and Pete Seeger longnecks), and right or left handed. Please indicate which woods you would like instrument made of (neck, top ring, middle ring, and bottom ring). I try to find wood with interesting grain patterns. One of the banjos in the attached photos has a cherry neck with some great discoloration in the grain. Each banjo takes about two to four weeks to complete. This can vary according to how many banjos I am working on at the time. I will send photos of the banjo under construction. Please note that the photos in this sale are not the banjo I will ship you. The photos in this sale are of other banjos that I have built. I will build your banjo out of your choice of woods (walnut, cherry, maple, or mixture of those woods). Check out the following you tube videos to see and hear the banjos I build.
