E. R. Watts & Son Ltd. Theodolite
Instrument number 15233
Up for your consideration is thishard to find E.R. Watts & Son Theodolite dated 13/12/32 in the original wood box and leather case.Numbers on Theodolite and wood box match.
This is a mechanically sound and precision instrument and is in very good shape for its agebutdoes show signs of use such as worn and chipped enamelled paint and some scuff marks here and there and is to be expected considering whatit went thru.
Scope optics look to be in pretty good shape but lenses should be cleaned inside and out as there appears to be some hazing and dust.It also has 5 barrel magnifiers and a diagonal eye piece. One of the barrel magnifiers looks to be a spare and also one of them has a few scratch marks on the magnifier.Eye piece on scopehas a few very small out side rim chips but does not effect the function. There is also what looks to be a sun filter but not sure.
All horizontal and vertical markings are nice and strong. All levels(4 total) have the original fluid.
The wood box is made of mahogany and and has a small crack on the bottom and lots of ware in the finish and on the wood but that is just patina. It also has the original key but the strike part of the lock is broken but should be easy to replace.
The leather case is well worn and needs restitching in places and felt also needs to be replaced.
