EARLY IROQUOIS MOCCASINS w FULL LENGTH CUFFS & PUCKERED TOES, c. 1860sVery Good Condition - Light Wear This is a rare early pair of Iroquoismoccasins with full length cuffs and puckered toes from upper New York state, circa 1860s, or so. Moccasins are 9” long, and are made with very soft native tanned hide with dark brown cloth cuffs and dark blue cloth vamps. The cloth areas are profusely beaded with very small beads in typical Iroquois motifs, and the beads are thread sewn, as expected. Condition is very good with small areas of a few missing beads here and there, but nolargeareas of loss. The hide is in excellent condition and shows light wear. These were found in an estate along the Massachusetts coast just south of Boston recently.
