Pleased to be able to offer one of the cleanest examples of Hester Bateman\'s work in the form of a classic cream jug. This wonderful example of her work shows many of her signature touches. The piece clearly shows the original hammer marks of beingcompletelyhand made both in theinterior, and in looking carefully at the exterior.
Of typical balustershape with Hester\'s classic pinched beaded rim, and fine beading on the base. The \"v\" shaped spout shows to bestraight and well formed. True to the time period is a double scrolled flying leaf capped handle. Standing on a sloped and tapered circular base. The creamer is 4 1/2 inches tall on a 2 inch base. the creamer weighs 79 grams (2.6oz)
On a condition basis it is rare to find any 18th century cream jug thathasn\'thad handle repairs either at the top or the base. There are no heat or solder marks on this piece at all, and the handle looks to be 100% original and intact. Even the original ownersinitialsare styleconsistenttrue to the mid to late 1700\'s.
