ENGLISH VINTAGE C1900 BLACK BALANCE KITCHEN SCALES

These scales were made in France and are stamped as such. They were made for a company called \"REEVES\" based in LEEDS ENGLAND and the small brass pan is stamped to this effect.

They are stamped \"TO WEIGH 1LB\" and are diminutive, just 10\" by 6\" high.

The top bar bears two stamps. One is the Government VERIFICATION stamp bearing the Crown and \"14\". Scales with a verification stamp are rare.

These stamps date back to at least HENRY V and are local standards issued through The Exchequer and marked with the Royal Insignia.

The other, I think, in part, reads \"PARIS\".

They are so old they were made before balancing methods were added to scales, such as boxes of ball bearings. I have balanced them for the photo using magnets so you can do the same if you wish to use them. They appear to me, though, to be more decorative and will appeal more to the collector of old scales rather than the cook. For that reason I have not included weights.

They have been given a lick of paint some time in antiquity. \"Lick\" being the operative word as it does not cover the cream base colour in several places.

The brass pans have pin pricks where sharp objects were used. And some stress marks as well.

POSTAGE, PACKAGING AND LOVING CARE

All items I sell are packaged very carefully in accordance with Royal Mail guidelines.

I will mail these scales from the UK. I have reviewed the delivery performance of the UK courier so far and it is between 2 and 7 days, an average of 4 days. For other destinations such as China delivery will be around 15 working days.

You may be concerned that they have to be sent such a long way but I can assure you there is no need. I use large sturdy boxes and pack all the spaces so they remain rigid. The scales are wrapped in large bubble wrap and bound with tape so they do not move about. The weights are packed separately also in large bubble wrap.

I have sold many sets to the USA, Canada and Worldwide and ALL have arrived safely.
