Excellent, Working 1923 DeForest D7a Radio w/Loop Aerial * 1st Version w/Big RFs:
$429.00

Make sure to check out all of my sales after you look at this one. I\'m listing an eclectic assortment of technological antiques, and I suspect there will be something of interest to just about everyone.Here\'s a beautiful, working Deforest D-7a Reflex Radiophone. The radio has been tested as recently as this weekend, and it still picks up AM radio stations.Condition of the radio is excellent throughout. The panel is clean, with no chips, gouges, cracks or other damage. Clear numbers and lettering everywhere. Dials and knobs are likewise original and undamaged. The solid mahogany cabinet retains its original finish, its original escutcheons, its original feet, and its early paper Priess Amplifier license. The chassis is clean and original, the wiring is perfect, and the original cam-driven deForest crystal detector is still working properly. Both original Deforest AF transformers are electrically sound, and when powered up, the radio has sufficient output amplification to drive most sensitive 1920\'s horn loudspeakers and all 1920\'s headsets. The radio is the first version of the D-7a, with an inspection tag dated February 1923, and the correct deForest \"tall boy\" RF transformers. #1, #2 and #3.The Deforest loop is in excellent condition, with undamaged wire and beautiful wooden poles without chips or splinters. The loop is a 20-year-old replica that is identical to the original loop aerial. If I weren\'t now telling you it was a replica, you would almost certainly never know. All three brass base tipped tubes have good emissions and have been tested in the radio for performance. As noted above, this is a tested, working radio. The directional loop is an integral part of the tuning circuit and must be used for reception. The radio also requires a good indoor ground connection, a longwire outdoor antenna, and a regulated DC power supply, such as an ARBEIII. The radio can be used with either headphones (such as the Baldwin C\'s which are included with it) or a sensitive horn loudspeaker. Tuning requires a bit of experience using both crystal radios and battery sets; the crystal detector must be set properly in order for the radio to work, and this can require a bit of patience as you adjust the detector and search for a good \"hot spot\" on the crystal. Once the crystal has been adjusted, however, it can be left alone. It does not need to be re-adjusted every time the radio is used.That\'s about it. I will package the components properly so that they arrive at your doorstep safely. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my response, you\'ll see that I know how to do it correctly. OVERSEAS BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: This radio is going to be quite expensive to ship it abroad, so if you\'re offerding from outside the US, please contact me first for a shipping quote so that I confirm my ability to get everything to you. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. Overseas customers may remit payment with Paypal only. sale participants with no prior response should contact me prior to placing a offer. Thanks.
