***Please ask all questions prior to buying!*** This sale is for an exceptional Edwardian princess petticoat. It\'s made of a fine cotton with an embroidered front. It\'s beautifully structured with a flared skirt and a wide lacy flounce. It\'s a great example of the transitional period between the trained Belle Epoque skirts and the hobble skirts of the late Edwardian. The bodice is elaborately trimmed out in entre-doux and Valenciennes lace. There is pink silk ribbon threaded through to help snug it to the figure. I have it pulled pretty tight here because the bodice is generously proportioned. At the top of the flounce is another row of entre-doux where more ribbon can be threaded through for extra lavishness! The dress closes up the back with all its original buttons. I adore this silhouette! It reminds me of the Winged Victory at the Louvre! This would also make a great pattern for a day or evening dress, just add a train and/or a dickey with a high collar! Condition: some age-related light discoloration a good soak would remove it. hand-wash only and remove the ribbon. There may be a pinhole or two. Measurements are: The bust is about 38 inches & the waist is about 28 inches. The hips are about 45 inches.
