U.S. ARMY NCO CIVIL WAR ERASWORD MADE BY CHRISTOPHER ROBY, W. CHELMSFORD, MASS.

Very nice CLEAN condition, no chips, breaks, bends, cracks, etc., but NO SCABBARD; measures about 38 inches. Markings areVERY LIGHT showing one side only \"...lmsford,\" clearly the marking for \"C. Roby & Co. W. Chelmsford,Mass.\" The other side of the ricasso alsoshows VERY LIGHT markings, which I can almost read the date, \"186x,\" can\'t read the last number; below which is the inspector\'s marks, \"F.S.X\" SHOULD BE \"F.S.S.,\"but the last letter isn\'t there ... as stated, thestamping onboth sides are light.The blade mostly gray with some spotting and does not appear to have been cleaned, buffed, or sharpened and there is NO RUST. The handguard bow if inspector marked and stamped with \"98,\" as is the grip assembly; clearly matching numbers! This is an HONEST piece in much better than average condition &from a very historical era.
