The Invalid Corps was a unit of the Union Army composed of men unable to serve actively by reason of wounds, disease or accidents. They performed guard duty, patrolled Washington D.C., enforced the draft and other duties.
Organized in April 1863. Renamed the Veteran\'s Reserve Corps in March 1864.
The order was a claim on a soldier\'s pay for any credit extended by the sutler.
