From a passed away priest in a small Southern mountain village, who has inherited it from theelder priest before him... Incredibly beautiful and full of history... This antique 1850 maybe earlier Victorian French ebonized prie-Dieu, kneeler or prayer chair, displays an amazing and rare sky blue and pink roses hand-embroidered needlepoint upholstery with rusty nail head accents. The wooden part is ebonized like it was the style of the era, highly carved and pierced with a cross and scrolls design, the aim of which is strengthened by a beautiful double colonnade on either side reminding a tabernacle, the impact is complete with the presence of a carved cross in front of the armrest, this top cross ornament is curved and follows the bent shape of the armrest.
The prie-dieu is in vintage used \"as found\" very good condition with minor defects commensurate with age and all shown on my pictures which are part of the description : some breaks to the wood, a small missing bit, some erased painting... nothing that detracts, it only adds to the authenticity and the vintage charm...
It will need a large package, even if the top cross ornament is removable, the seat measurements are :
Max Width : 21.50\" (55cm)
Max Depth : 26\" (66cm)
Max Height : 38\" including cross ornament (97cm)
A WONDERFUL AND RARE PRIE-DIEU WITH HISTORY, STRUCTURALLY SOUND WITH AGE APPROPRIATE SIGNS OF NORMAL USE AS PICTURED
A TRUE SOURCE OF SPIRITUALITY OR AN UNUSUAL AND DECORATIVE BEDROOM CHAIR WITH THIS RARE AND CONTRASTING BLUE TAPISSERIE ...
