Antique sterling silver desk clock by Tiffany & Co. Has a rope-edged base holding the raised clock that has a carved, floral repoussé design. Back is marked Tiffany & Co 9408 M 7037 sterling silver. It also has the numbers 9755 and 17318 etched above, 19914P and other illegible numbers. The back comes off, and inside it is etched 4287 and 8672 AB (could be initials of the clock maker), the number 2, 5693R, 14195, 22116 which all can be dates, but not sure. The back cover is also engraved with initials (hard to make out what they are). The movement reads VAP Breveté SGDG. We believe VAP is the maker and are the initials for Victor A. Pierret, 1806-1893 who worked in Paris (but we are not certain); Breveté means patented, and SGDG in French is Sans Garantie Due Government, meaning Without Guaranty of the Government (required by law with a legal patent for exports.). The base measures across 5 1/8\"; the center clock sections sits up app. 2.5\". ** Note the clock is not running, nor have we had it looked at. The silver wheel moves up and down and is not seated flat, so we do not know if this can be fixed, sometimes when the clock is handled, it ticks for a bit, then stops, so we have no idea how much work it will need to get it into running condition and are selling it as is. The face is white with black roman numerals and hands; crystal is slightly domed. Condition is good, face has dirt and one section along the edge is bent in (looks coppery in color), has some crazing marks, crystal has scratches, sterling is in nice shape, no dents or dings, the floral repoussé design is crisp and detailed, back cover has some light scratches and note that we\'ve not cleaned nor polished the clock, as found. Sometimes when you move it, it ticks for a bit, then stops. The back cover has 2 cut-out slots that slide over knobs to fasten, and they are both bent a little - see next to last photo for an idea; it fits on fine. Heavy, total with clock movement weighs 403.35 dwt or 627.28 grams. ** Note not running, and we cannot guaranty if any parts are missing, sold as is, and we don\'t know how old it is.
