When I was in my teens I had the enviable opportunity to ask Ed Ferrary in person to make a particular fife for me, after which he gave me a tour of his shop and even showed me his \"secret drill\", swearing me to secrecy. He invited me to come back in a couple of weeks to watch him do some of the work on my fife. I rode my bicycle the 10 or 12 miles to Ed\'s place in Essex and got a lesson in fife making that didn\'t mean much to me at the time but came in handy years later.
SO many people have asked me to duplicate my Ferrary fife for them and I have finally done so. I made a set of exact copies, using the same style drill for the bore that Ed used. In the photos, the fife with the polished ferrules is the duplicate while the weathered ferruled one is the original (original not for sale, sorry). There are several of my \"nach-Ferrarys\" out there and I managed even to fool a self-proclaimed \"Ferrary expert\" in appearance and play-ability, although I have not put a Ferrary stamp on these. The design is the very model Ed had made for the Tippecanoe Fife & Drum Corps and is pitched in Bb (A = 446: typical fife and drum corps pitch). I only have a few more left and will only make more to order at the moment. Questions are welcome. This price is for a short time only and will go to 150$ as a regular set price.
